The ideal candidate should be organized, passionate, and capable of merchandising while maintaining store cleanliness and delivering exceptional customer service at the store level.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• At least 3 years of experience as a General Worker, preferably in a staff shop or a similar environment
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cashier, ideally in a retail context

Duties & Responsibilities

MERCHANDISING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE

• Unload delivery trucks and distribute stock according to the Outlet Controller’s directives
• Ensure that shelves are stocked and organized in accordance with store merchandising standards
• Verify that prices are accurate and displayed correctly
• Comply with Health and Safety Standards regarding product shelf life
• Rotate stock following merchandising standards – First In, First Out
• Inform customers about Store Specials, Promotions, and Pricing
• Remove damaged items from shelves as needed and notify the Outlet Controller
• Address customer inquiries or requests on the sales floor
• Update the Outlet Controller on customer questions related to stock or inventory levels
• Assist with stock pulling for Staff Account orders on delivery days, when applicable

CASHIER DUTIES:

• Oversee sales transactions
• Accurately reconcile cash
• Enhance customer service to boost sales in the Staff Shop
• Manage daily transactions between the Farm Shop, traders, and customers
• Record daily totals in the Point of Sale (POS) system
• Perform daily cash reconciliations between the cash banked and the POS system
• Identify, follow up on, and report any discrepancies
• Utilize a Bank Note Scanning Machine to detect counterfeit currency

CUSTOMER SERVICE

• Engage proactively with traders and consumers to provide essential product information.
• Enhance sales by updating traders and consumers about ongoing store promotions.
• Gather feedback from traders and consumers to identify areas for service improvement.

STOCK MANAGEMENT

• Support the team during the monthly stock inventory process.
• Report any discrepancies in stock counts to the Outlet Controller for resolution.
• Communicate customer preferences and requirements to the Outlet Controller.

HOUSEKEEPING

• Maintain a clean and organized environment within the premises.
• Regularly check freezer temperature levels and promptly inform the Outlet Controller of any issues to ensure quick resolutions.
• Act as a champion for energy-saving initiatives.
• Merchandising.
