Introduction
We are seeking a qualified Cashier to become a part of our vibrant team.
Department:
The selected candidate will be assigned to the Retail Store.
Reports To:
The individual will report directly to the Store Manager and Supervisor.
Job Purpose:
The primary responsibility is to operate a point of sale (POS) system to ensure effective and efficient customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To carry out all operational tasks at the point of sale promptly and efficiently.
- To maintain a high level of accuracy while scanning items and processing payments for purchases, including exchanges, refunds, and lay-buys.
- To ensure the secure handling of cash at all times, adhering to the Store’s Cash Management Policy.
- To utilize the BP Solanki Checks and Balances Electronic Platform effectively to ensure compliance with the Store’s cash handling procedures.
- To actively promote the BP Solanki online store to meet participation targets.
- To provide exceptional customer service by acting as a brand ambassador, remaining visible, and delivering friendly and professional assistance.
- To efficiently manage products within the cashier area and uphold general housekeeping duties in line with store and visual merchandising standards.
- To keep updated on product knowledge to provide accurate information to customers consistently.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- A Matric certificate is essential.
- A minimum of 3 years of prior experience as a cashier.
- Basic proficiency in computer and tablet usage.
Required Skills:
- Ability to adhere to instructions and procedures;
- Willingness to collaborate with team members and occasionally assist with sales assistant duties, even if not part of primary responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a solid moral foundation;
- Planning and organizational skills;
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Sesotho or Zulu is advantageous;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
